In July 2024, PSB Air completed a major project at the University of Wollongong’s new Sydney Campus, located in Darling Park Tower 1, Levels 2 and 3. The task was clear: design and deliver an air conditioning and ventilation system that integrated with the existing base building system and BMS, while accommodating a high concentration of people per square metre.
This project showcased PSB Air’s ability to respond to complex challenges with precision, delivering a reliable, compliant, and efficient HVAC solution on time.
The Sydney CBD campus demanded extra outside air requirements beyond what the base building allowed. Meeting these requirements without compromising efficiency or compliance was a significant obstacle.
Another challenge was the unique ceiling grid, which required special grilles manufactured overseas. With long lead times a common issue, timely delivery was critical to the project’s success.
PSB Air engineered a solution that combined technical expertise and proactive execution:
By combining technical knowledge with agile project management, PSB Air delivered a system that:
The University of Wollongong now has a high-performance HVAC solution tailored to the demands of a modern, high-density campus environment.

This project demonstrates why PSB Air is trusted for complex commercial HVAC solutions in Sydney. When deadlines are tight, specifications are unique, and compliance is non-negotiable, PSB Air brings the reliability, responsiveness, and proactive problem-solving that sets them apart.

The project included water-cooled VRF systems, VAVs, and upgraded mechanical ventilation integrated with the building’s existing infrastructure. These systems were selected to support high occupancy levels and ensure reliable performance.
The UOW Sydney Campus fitout required integrating new systems with the existing base-building setup, accommodating high occupancy demands, and coordinating specialised components within a tight program. It shows how our team delivers reliable, large-scale commercial air conditioning upgrades in Sydney while maintaining performance, compliance and project timelines.
The upgraded VRF air conditioning systems were aligned with the existing BMS for better control, energy management and long-term reliability across multiple teaching and learning spaces.
The unique ceiling grid required custom air grilles with long procurement lead times. PSB Air secured and installed these components faster than expected to ensure the program stayed on track.
VRF air conditioning offers zoning, stable temperature control and energy efficiency, making it ideal for classrooms, lunchrooms and offices where demand varies throughout the day.
